The Broken Heartline

- Love Better by Ministry of Social Development -
This isn’t an approach that has been trialled by any other government. The way that we’re doing this using real, raw stories… is where the power of this campaign lies.
— Priyanca Radhakrishnan, Associate Minister for Social Development

Heart to broken hearts:
Working through the hurt of a break up

The Broken Heartline. A first of its kind, dedicated break-ups helpline, designed to help rangatahi reach out and seek support when they’re hurting most.

To support our wider ‘Own the Feels’ campaign, and to speak to young people in the moments they’re really feeling it, we created five unique broken hearts each expressing common emotions and responses experienced by rangatahi: Sadness, jealousy, loneliness, anger, and getting wasted.

The Broken Heartline is running 24/7, with the hearts campaign running across OOH in relevant sites and times, as well as targeted AV across Meta and Tik Tok platforms, directing people to an established and growing support community at @lovebetternz.

*Love Better via Ministry of Social Development, is a primary prevention programme helping young people navigate sex and relationships in order to reduce harm now and into the future.
